Clutch Switch: Testing and Inspection

1. Block front wheels, apply parking brake and place transaxle into 5th gear.
2. After adjusting clutch pedal, check clutch interlock as follows:
a. Engine should not start even if ignition switch is turned to Start position with clutch pedal not depressed. If engine starts, check interlock switch and harness.
b. Engine should start after clutch pedal has been fully depressed and ignition switch has been turned to Start position. If engine starts before clutch pedal is fully depressed, adjust clutch interlock.

3. Loosen clutch interlock switch locknut, depress clutch pedal six inches and adjust clearance to 0.14 inch, Fig. 4.

4. Connect ohmmeter to clutch interlock switch terminals No.1 and No. 2, Fig. 5.
5. With clutch pedal fully depressed no continuity should exist at terminals, Fig. 5.
6. With clutch pedal released, continuity should exist between terminals No. 1 and No. 2., Fig. 5.
