Fig. 12 Transaxle Replacement (Part 2 Of 2):
Replace transaxle assembly in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 12, noting the following:
1. Remove starter motor assembly leaving electrical harness connected.
2. Raise transaxle enough to remove weight off transaxle mount, then remove transaxle mounting bolts.
3. Support engine assembly using engine support tool No. MZ203827, or equivalent.
4. Remove tie rod end and lower ball joint using ball joint remover tool No. MB991193, or equivalent.
5. Insert a suitable pry bar between the driveshaft and transaxle case and pry driveshaft out of transaxle. Support driveshaft and do not allow to hang from driveshaft boot.
6. Remove three bolts connecting the torque converter to the driveplate.
7. After removing converter bolts push torque converter toward transaxle so that it does not remain on the engine.
8. Support transaxle using a suitable transaxle jack and remove from vehicle by moving assembly to the right and then lowering out of vehicle.
Fig. 13 Torque Converter Installation Inspection:
9. After securely inserting torque converter into transaxle, slide it so that value marked A is approximately 0.472 inch, Fig. 13, then install transaxle assembly on to engine.
10. Install driveshaft so that inboard joint of driveshaft is straight and not bent relative to the transaxle.
