Front Disc Brakes
1. Raise and support vehicle then remove wheel.Fig. 1 Exploded View Of Front Disc Brake Assembly (MR31S Caliper):

2. Remove guide/slide pins, Fig. 1 and 2.
3. Lift caliper assembly and support to frame suing suitable wire. Guide pin is coated with special grease. Be careful not to remove grease and ensure no dirt adheres to pin.
4. Remove inner & outer shims, anti-squeak shims and pad assembly.

5. Measure hub torque with pad removed to measure brake drag after pad installation, Fig. 3.
6. Securely attach pad clip to caliper support.
7. Press piston into cylinder. Ensure piston boot does not become caught during installation.
8. Lower caliper body and install lower guide pin, tightening to specification.
9. Check brake drag as follows:
a. Start engine and hold brake pedal down for five seconds.
b. Stop engine.
c. Turn brake disc forward ten times.
d. Check brake drag. If the difference between brake drag and hub torque measured in this procedure exceeds 4.4 lbs., disassemble piston and clean.
Check piston and caliper for corrosion or worn parts.
