Cooling System: Description and Operation

With the output of the auto compressor control unit in ``LO,'' and when coolant temperatures reaches approximately 185°F, the thermo sensor contacts close, providing a ground circuit to the fan relay, which provides voltage to the fan motor.

On models w/1.5L/4-92 engine, with the output of the auto compressor control unit in ``HI,'' the control unit causes the condenser relay to be energized and the condenser fan to be On.

On models w/1.6L/4-98 engine, with the output of the auto compressor control unit in ``HI,'' the control unit causes the condenser relay to be energized and the condenser fan and the radiator fan to be on low speed. If pressure switch is On because of high refrigerant line pressure, or if the thermo switch is On when coolant temperature is above 185°F, the condenser fan motor relay will be On, causing the condenser fan and radiator fan to be on high speed.
