Without Scan Tool
WHEN USING THE VOLTMETER(1) With the vehicle stopped and the engine idling, read and take a note of the pattern of the output voltage between ground and ABS terminal of the data link connector as illustrated.
(2) Erase the memory of the diagnostic trouble code momentarily.
If the memory can not be erased, the function is not being provided because of the problem that is currently displaying the fault code. If the memory can be erased, the problem is only temporary or it is one that is detected only when the vehicle is running.
(3) If the fault code can not be erased or if ABS stops its function and the fault code is displayed by repeating the driving test, check for the cause in accordance with the inspection chart by diagnostic trouble codes.
NOTE: Even if the ABS system is normal, the fault codes shown in the table above are displayed as diagnostic trouble codes according to the vehicle conditions.
These fault codes are displayed only for the current problem (ABS warning light is on). If the ABS system returns to normal function, the warning light goes out and the on-board diagnostic output changes to the normal code.
