Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.Fig. 9 Floor Console Removal:
2. Remove floor console as shown in Fig. 9.

3. Remove knee protector cover, Fig. 10.
4. Remove instrument panel undercover retaining screws, then the undercover.
5. Remove upper and lower column covers.
6. Remove lap and foot duct.
7. Remove steering column retaining bolts.
8. Remove undercover and glove compartment stop.
9. Remove glove compartment assembly and ashtray.
10. Remove heater control knobs and heater control panel.
11. Remove trip counter reset knob.
12. Remove meter bezel.
13. Remove combination meter assembly retaining screws, then turn top of meter outward.
14. On models equipped with automatic position indicator, remove combination meter after removing meter harness electrical connector.
15. Disconnect speedometer cable at transaxle.
16. Slightly pull speedometer cable, then turn adapter to left or right to release lock and remove adapter.
17. Using a flat tip screwdriver, open tab of combination meter wiring harness and remove from vehicle.
18. Remove speaker grilles and clock.
19. Remove heater control assembly retaining screws.
20. Remove instrument panel retaining bolts.
21. Remove instrument panel-to-body and instrument panel-to-junction block wiring harness couplers.
22. Remove MPI control relay to control wiring harness coupling.
23. Remove instrument panel assembly.
24. Reverse procedure to install.
