With Scan Tool
SCAN TOOL HOOK-UPScan Tool:
1. Connect the scan tool to the diagnostic connector and a power source. Either the cigarette lighter or an adapter to the battery terminals may be used.
Multi-Use Tester (Scan Tool):
Note: There are Scan Tools (diagnostic read-out boxes) that are available from other manufacturers, that can be used on Chrysler vehicles (EXAMPLE Mitsubishi Multi-Use Tester). Always follow the operating instructions that are included with your Scan Tool.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Read and make a note of any Diagnostic Trouble Codes that may be present in the controllers memory.
4. Use the Diagnostic Code Charts to convert code numbers to the proper component name.
5. After repairs have been completed, use the Scan Tool to erase the Diagnostic Trouble Codes from the controllers memory.
6. Test drive the vehicle and recheck system for any new codes.
