This Technical Service Bulletin replaces TSB-94-13-0017 issued in November, 1994. Changes include the vehicles affected and information about checking the vendor number on the ECM to determine if the vehicle requires installation of the modulator kit.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Some 1993 and 1994 Diamantes with the SOHC engine may return to your dealership with the 'check engine' light illuminated. If Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 31 is retrieved by the Scan Tool, the vehicle may require knock sensor wiring repair, the installation of a knock sensor modulator kit, and/or a new knock sensor. This bulletin describes how to check the knock sensor wiring harness and how to install a knock sensor modulator kit.

1993 Diamante ES (SOHC engine only) with build dates from 07/01/92 to 12/31/92 1994 Diamante ES (SOHC engine only) with build dates prior to 01/01/94
