1. Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Remove brake caliper as outlined under Brake Caliper.
3. Disassemble caliper assembly in numbered sequence shown in Figs. 1 and 3, noting the following:
a. Remove pistons by placing a hammer handle in caliper to keep pistons even then send compressed air to break hose opening. Use care not to pinch fingers when removing pistons. Send compressed air gradually. If one piston is removed, the others will not be able to be removed.
b. Remove piston seal with finger.
c. Clean piston surface and inner cylinder with alcohol or specified brake fluid.
4. Reverse numbered sequence in Figs. 1 and 3 to assemble caliper. On FWD models, match guide and lockpins identification marks with marks on caliper body when installing.
