SLOW FILLING FUEL TANK
PURPOSE
This Technical Service Bulletin describes the cause and repair of a slow or incomplete filling fuel tank.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1992 Expo LRV (AWD models only)
Vehicles with VIN JA3CW40D2NZ028115 and above have been corrected during production.
DESCRIPTION
On AWD models of the 1992 Expo LRV, the fuel tank may not fill completely while refueling. Because of the position of the fuel tank vent tube (vapor hose), the service station fuel pump nozzle may receive a false signal from the fuel tank (caused by swirling and/or foaming of the fuel), causing the nozzle to shut off before the tank is full.
On later produced vehicles, the vent tube has been relocated to the sub tank side of the fuel tank. To correct earlier produced vehicles, it is necessary to replace the fuel tank and several related components.
