Component Tests and General Diagnostics
WIPER MOTORWiper Operation Check At High & Low Speed
Fig. 61 Checking Operation Of Wiper Motor High & Low Speed:
Fig. 62 Checking Operation Of Wiper Motor In Auto Stop Position:
1. To ensure low and high speed operation of wiper motor connect battery as shown in Fig. 61.
2. To check motor for automatic stop position run motor at low speed then disconnect battery. Connect jumper wire and battery as shown in Fig. 62. Motor should turn at low speed, then stop in auto position.
COLUMN SWITCH
Wiper & Washer Switch
Fig. 63 Checking Wiper & Washer Switch:
1. Disconnect column switch connector.
2. Operate switch and ensure continuity between terminals as shown in Fig. 63.
Wiper Relay Check
Fig. 64 Checking Wiper Relay:
Refer to Fig. 64 for terminal identification when checking wiper relay.
1. Turn column switch to Off or AUTO position. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 3 and 10, and 1 and 12. Ensure no continuity exists between terminal 3 and 12.
2. Connect battery positive to terminal 12 and battery negative to terminal 1, ensure battery voltage is at terminal 3.
WASHER MOTOR
Fig. 32 Testing Washer Motor:
1. Ensure washer reservoir is full.
2. With battery connected as shown in Fig. 32, washer motor should operate properly.
WASHER FLUID LEVEL SENSOR
1. Remove washer fluid level sensor from washer tank.
2. Connect circuit tester to connector of washer fluid lever sensor.
3. When float is raised, no continuity should exist. When float is lowered continuity should exist.
