Power Transistor

Component Overview:

LOCATION

The power transistor is located on the intake manifold next to the distributor.

PURPOSE

The ECM controls ignition timing and dwell by interrupting the ignition coil primary circuit ground, through the power transistor.

OPERATION

The solid state power transistor is used as a switching device, to control current in the coil primary circuit, (through the ground circuit).
