Powertrain Management: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The electronic control system constantly monitors and adjusts the operation of the FUEL, IGNITION and EMISSION SYSTEMS , to achieve the best compromise between engine performance, fuel consumption, and emissions reduction.

INFORMATION STRUCTURE

Computers and Control Systems
Engine Control Module (ECM), On-Board Diagnostics (OBD), input sensors, output devices.

Emission Control Devices
Evaporative and exhaust emission control systems and components.

Fuel Supply And Air Induction Systems
Air/fuel intake system and components.
