Two types of EGR hoses are available; one for vehicles equipped with Traction Control (TCL) and another for vehicles without TCL. Both of these new EGR hoses have a small vacuum restricting orifice (restrictor) placed inside the hose. Figure 1 illustrates a cutaway view of a typical replacement EGR hose and the placement of the restrictor. Hoses with the vacuum restrictor are identified with a white band. TCL IDENTIFICATION

Vehicles with TCL can easily be identified in two ways. One way is looking at the dash, for the TCL indicator lights (Figure 2). The other way is looking at the throttle body for a vacuum actuator (Figure 3).
