With Voltmeter

WHEN USING A VOLTMETER
1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2. Connect an analog voltmeter across the diagnostic output terminal (7) and ground terminal (12) which belong to the data link connector.

3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

4. According to the voltmeter pointer deflection. read the diagnostic test mode pattern.

5. Referring to the diagnostic chart, repair the faulty spot.

6. Turn OFF the ignition switch.

7. Disconnect the battery cable from a battery terminal and leave it disconnected for 10 seconds or more; then, reconnect the cable.

8. Turn ON the ignition switch and read the diagnostic trouble code to check that the correct code is being output.
