Installation Procedure

NOTE:
In addition to standard hand tools, obtain the following materials before proceeding with the installation procedure:

- Trunk Release Cable (Part Number MB626619)
- 1992 Diamante Service Manual, Volume 1





1. Observe the latch-side end of the new trunk release cable. It should contain three adjustment-fixing positions on the end cap. If it does not, obtain the correct cable before proceeding.





2. Remove the driver's seat and the upper and lower sections of the rear seat. For removal and installation instructions, refer to the 1992 Diamante Service Manual, Volume 1, Section 52A Interior.

3. Remove the kick panel trim and foot rest from the driver's side of the vehicle.

4. Remove the front and rear scuff plates from the driver's side of the vehicle.





5. Remove the driver's side center pillar lower trim and rear wheelhouse trim.





6 Unbolt the trunk release handle from the floorboard.





7. Remove the trunk liner on the driver's side to expose the trunk release cable.





8. On the trunk lid liner, remove 1/2 of the plastic clips and the two screws near the trunk latch to expose the trunk release cable.





9. Disconnect the trunk release cable from the handle side and the latch side and detach the cable from the cable clips located inside the trunk. To remove the cable, pull it through the trunk.





10. Install the end cap of the new cable in Position # 1 on the trunk latch side of the cable.


11. Continue installing the new cable, working in reverse order from Step 9.
