EGR Control Solenoid Valve Inspection

EGR Solenoid:

1. Disconnect the yellow and green striped vacuum hose from the solenoid valve.
2. Disconnect the harness connector from the solenoid.
3. Connect a hand vacuum pump to the nipple.
4. Apply a vacuum and observe vacuum gauge while applying battery voltage across the solenoid terminals with jumper wires.

- Vacuum should hold while voltage is connected.
- Vacuum should not hold while voltage is disconnected.

5. Measure the resistance between the solenoid terminals.

Acceptable Resistance Range

@ 20° C (68° F) 36 - 44 ohms

6. If the solenoid failed any test, replace solenoid.
