Throttle Position Sensor Testing For DOHC With And Without Traction Control (TCL):

LOCATION

The TPS is mounted on the throttle shaft.

PURPOSE

The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), senses the throttle valve angle.

OPERATION

The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is a rotating type variable resistor

As the throttle shaft rotates, the output voltage of the TPS changes. The ECM determines the throttle valve opening based on TPS output voltage.

The ECM judges the engine acceleration demand and accordingly adjusts fuel injection.
