1992 CALIFORNIA DIAMANTE EGR HOSE

REPLACEMENT


PURPOSE

This bulletin provides detailed procedures to replace the existing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) hose on certain 1992 California Diamante vehicles. During cruise conditions with the air conditioning on, the On-Board Diagnostics System may light the "CHECK ENGINE" warning light and store an EGR-related malfunction code even though the EGR system is operating correctly.

A letter has been sent to all owners of the affected vehicles telling them to return their vehicles to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have the EGR hose replaced. A copy of this letter is shown on page 5 of this bulletin.

Please note that the customer is not to be charged for repairs covered by this bulletin. To achieve the desired results, these procedures MUST be followed EXACTLY as described in this bulletin.


AFFECTED VEHICLES

This procedure applies only to certain 1992 California Emission Specification Diamante vehicles. It does not apply to any other vehicles or models. NOTE: Federal Emission Certified vehicles are not equipped with an EGR valve.


REQUIRED OPERATIONS

Replace the EGR hose assembly at the throttle body and clear the on-board vehicle diagnostic memory.

Submit as Recall Claim type "C", Menu option *E-5" on your Diamond Network System. Do NOT submit as "W" claims!

Time Allowance: 0.3 hr.

NOTE: The "O" in the above labor code is the number ZERO. A sample required work claim is shown on page 6.
