Engine Coolant Temperature Switch (A/C)
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor And Switch Removal:
LOCATION
Engine coolant temperature sensor, located near the ignition coil, at the front of the engine.
PURPOSE
Allows the "A/C ON" signal to be transmitted to the ECM. Used to prevent engine overheating by eliminating A/C operation.
OPERATION
When the engine coolant temperature is below 239° F, the bimetal strip inside the switch completes the circuit. Informing the ECM that conditions are suitable for A/C operation.
When the coolant temperature exceeds 235° F, the bimetal strip inside the switch opens circuit. Preventing the ECM from activating the A/C.
