Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
TDC And Crank Angle Sensor Location:
LOCATION
Crankshaft and Camshaft (TDC) Position sensors (single unit), located on the front of left cylinder head, near the throttle body.
PURPOSE
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) uses this input to determine engine speed and TDC, and adjusts ignition timing, fuel injection, and idle speed accordingly.
OPERATION
Power is supplied to the camshaft position sensor from the MFI relay and is grounded to the body.
The sensor generates a pulse signal, as it repeatedly connects and disconnects between 5V, supplied by the ECM, and ground.
