Purpose

* This bulletin supplements the information contained in Technical Service Bulletin number TSB-91-33A-001, entitled "STEERING DRIFT".

Several factors can cause steering drift. The information contained in this bulletin will help you to understand the differences between steering drift caused by variations in road surfaces and cross-winds, or steering drift caused by tire and/or mechanical conditions. Most importantly, this bulletin details how to correct conditions of vehicle-related steering drift through tire rotation, proper tire inflation, wheel alignment checking, and power steering component replacement.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

1992 Diamante LS with Electronic Power Steering (EPS):

- EPS ECU replacement is only necessary for vehicles produced BEFORE September 11, 1991.

- EPS gear box solenoid valve replacement is only necessary for vehicles produced BEFORE August 26, 1991.

1992 Base Diamante with Normal Power Steering (NPS):

- NPS oil pump connector valve replacement is only necessary for vehicles produced BEFORE February 1, 1992.

- NPS gear box valve replacement is only necessary for vehicles produced BEFORE August 26, 1991.
