Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

Connecting Jumper Wires To Fuel Pump Check Connector:

1. On 1985 - 86 models, connect jumper wires to terminals 1 and 2 of fuel pump check connector, Fig. 41, and check to ensure that operating sound of fuel pump can be heard when ignition switch is turned on. On 1987 - 88 models, connect a jumper wire between battery positive terminal and fuel pump check connector.
2. If operating sound cannot be heard, check for defective connectors or wiring.
3. If connectors and wiring are satisfactory, disconnect fuel pump connector at pump and energize pump. If pump still will not operate, replace pump.
