EGR Control Solenoid Valve

1. Disconnect and mark the vacuum hoses (blue stripe, red stripe) from the solenoid valve.
2. Disconnect the electrical harness connector.
3. Connect a hand vacuum pump to the nipple the red striped hose was removed from, Fig. 75.

4. Apply vacuum and verify that when voltage is applied to the EGR control solenoid valve vacuum leaks and when voltage is removed vacuum holds, Fig. 76.

5. Measure the coil resistance using an ohm meter, Fig. 77 and verify that the solenoid coil resistance is between 36 and 44 ohms at 20 degrees C (68 degrees F).
