Engine: Service and Repair
1. Drain cooling system, then the engine crankcase.
2. Remove residual fuel pressure as follows:
a. Remove high floor panel from luggage compartment.
b. Start engine and disconnect electrical connector from fuel tank sending unit (Fuel pump connector).
c. When engine stops from lack of fuel, turn ignition off. Failure to release pressure prior to disconnecting fuel lines may cause fire or personal injury.
3. Disconnect battery ground cable.
4. Drain transmission fluid, then remove engine under cover.
5. Mark position of hood hinges, then remove hood and air cleaner.
6. Remove turbocharger heat protector, then disconnect oxygen sensor harness connector.
7. Disconnect intercooler air hose connectors, then the power brake booster vacuum hose connections.
8. Disconnect heater hoses, then remove power steering oil pump V-belt.
9. Remove air conditioner compressor, then the power steering pump.
10. Remove air conditioner compressor, then disconnect exhaust system at catalytic converter.
11. Disconnect radiator hoses, then remove radiator.
