Modulator Installation




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.

2. Inside the passenger compartment remove the retainer button and cover from the driver's side heater unit cover.

NOTE: Remove the retainer button carefully by twisting it slowly in order to prevent breakage.



3. Carefully loosen the driver's side carpeting and fold it back sufficiently to expose the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) mounting bracket.

4. Remove the 1 lower left side Transmission Control Unit mounting screw.



5. Carefully insert the supplied mounting bracket onto the new modulator control unit. When the mounting bracket has been installed onto the modulator, the electrical connector should face away from the mounting bracket hole.



6. Fasten the new modulator assembly to the Transmission Control Unit mounting using the screw that was previously removed. Tighten the screw securely.

NOTE: In some instances the heater unit cover will have to be lifted slightly to allow added space between the heater unit and the Transmission Control Unit.



7. Carefully loosen the passenger's side carpeting and fold it back sufficiently to expose the right side mounting bracket of the Transmission Control Unit.

8. Remove the retainer button and cover from the passenger's side heater unit cover. Remove the retainer button carefully by twisting it slowly in order to prevent breakage.



9. Disconnect the 2 wire harness connectors from the Transmission Control Unit.

10. Remove the right lower TCU bracket screw. Using the supplied wiring harness from the modulator kit, carefully extend the wires.

11. Secure the single ground wire that has an electrical connector eyelet to the right (passenger side) lower TCU mounting bracket using the screw that was previously removed. Tighten the screw securely.



12. Plug the new modulator cable harness into the existing vehicle TCU wiring harness.

13. Carefully plug the matching modulator cable harness into the TCU.

14. Route the remaining modulator harness connector over the heater unit using the access holes.



15. Plug the modulator harness into the modulator.

16. Carefully extend the remaining 2-wire extension harness from the modulator and temporarily lay the wires across the top of the center console.
