SYNCHRONIZER RING CHANGE IN KM SERIES MANUAL TRANSAXLES

PURPOSE
Beginning in October of 1987, the KM series manual transaxles have synchronizer ring cones which are 1 mm smaller than those previously used. This bulletin describes the changes and has charts to be used when replacing the synchronizer rings and speed gears.

DETAILS OF CHANGE
All of the synchronizer ring cones and speed gear cones in the KM200
series transaxles were reduced in size 1 mm beginning October, 1987.
NOTE:
If the large end of the synchronizer ring cone measures 54, 63, or 72 mm, you are working on an older transaxle. If the cone measures 53, 62, or 71 mm at the large end, it is a newer unit.
INTERCHANGEABILITY
New parts are useable on older vehicles when synchronizers and speed gears are replaced as a set.
New parts can be replaced individually on newer vehicles.
Old parts can not be used on newer vehicles.
Use the charts to identify which parts should be used when replacing or repairing synchronizers or speed gears on KM200 series transaxles.
