Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

After extracting the diagnostic codes and repairing the appropriate malfunction, the codes should be cleared from the ECU memory. This is accomplished by disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal for at least 15 seconds. Leave the battery terminal disconnected for at least 15 seconds to ensure that all codes have been completely erased. After clearing codes, reconnect the battery terminal before attempting to start the engine.
