Brake Pad, Replace
Fig. 3 Exploded view of typical front disc brake assembly.:
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Remove lower lock pin, Fig. 3, and lift caliper body upward, then support caliper with wire. Lock pin is coated with special grease. Use caution not to remove grease and ensure no dirt adheres to pin.
3. Remove inner shim, anti-squeak shim and pad assemblies from support mounting.
4. Remove pad clips B and C.
5. Press piston into cylinder using a suitable tool.
6. Install pad clip B and C, pad assemblies, inner shim and anti-squeak shim onto the support mounting.
7. Apply a coating of suitable grease to the pad and anti-squeak shim contact surface and to the anti-squeak shim and inner shim contact surface.
8. Lower caliper body into position, then install lower lock pin. Torque bolt to 16-23 ft. lbs.
9. Install wheel.
