PURPOSE
Beginning with November, 1986 production, the gearshift lever assembly of 1987 Cordia/Tredia vehicles was changed in design. When servicing the gearshift lever assembly of a vehicle built November, 1986 and later, refer to the 1988 Cordia/Tredia Service Manual for removal, inspection and installation procedures. In addition, if the gearshift lever on a 1985-1987 vehicle requires replacement, the new lever assembly (P/N MB484824) should be installed.
DESIGN MODIFICATION
The snap ring and snap ring groove on the gearshift lever have been deleted and the fulcrum ball and related components have been modified. The components of the new lever assembly are shown below.
