Sun/Celette Bench

(Dedicated System) The equipment evaluated consisted of the bench, leveling legs and gauge, transverse beams, two sets of fixtures, data sheets, rocker-panel clamp assemblies, and a pulling unit called the "Cobra". The bench is equipped with casters allowing easy Movement within the shop. When not in use the bench, which occupies a space of 4 feet 2 inches by 13 feet 1 inch, must be stored. The working height of the bench is not adjustable and frequently limits access to the vehicle underbody. Leveling legs and a gauge are provided to compensate for un- even floors. Vehicles are anchored by adjustable rocker panel clamps and the fixtures. The fixtures will also "lock" in restored areas to prevent distortion. The fixtures identify the angle and the position of all critical control points and function as a welding jig to position structural Components. Some fixtures are located in areas that require removal of mechanical components. The "Cobra" pulling unit is quite adjustable and will pro vide a multitude of positions to satisfy the pulling angle required. The "Cobra" pulling unit will allow 360~ pulls but
multiple pulls require the addition of another "Cobra" unit. Pulling can also be accomplished with pots or rail systems which also allow multiple and 360~ pulls. Using a two-post hoist, one skilled technician and one unskilled technician are required for setup and takedown. Time required for setup and takedown is approximately one hour and 30 minutes.
