PURPOSE This bulletin contains body repair information of general interest to automobile dealership technicians and service managers. Even though your dealership may subcontract collision repairs, it is desirable and important for dealership technical personnel to have a general knowledge of the techniques and requirements for collision damage repair.

DESCRIPTION Reprints of three bulletins published by Tech-Cor, Inc., are enclosed with this bulletin. Tech-Cor serves the auto insurance and repair industry through research. The Tech-Cor Research Bulletin is one means by which their findings are disseminated to the automotive repair community.

The first Tech-Cor Bulletin is a review of the techniques of repairing flexible bumpers.

The second bulletin gives a general over view of the different types of plastic materials used in automobile bodies and how to repair them.

The third describes the different types of body repair benches used by collision shops in repairing damage to unitized vehicle bodies such as those produced by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. Modern measuring and straightening equipment is essential in restoring the vehicle to its original dimensions for proper body panel and glass fit, suspension and steering alignment, and freedom from squeaks and rattles.

We would appreciate your comments on the type of information enclosed with this bulletin. If response is favorable, we will send more information of a general nature in the future.

To express your opinion, discuss it with your DSM or write or call the Service Engineering Department at Fountain Valley.
