Vacuum Control Valve and Vacuum Hose Installation





1. Using the bracket, Vacuum Control Valve (VCV), and Vacuum Hose Assembly from the EMR-90-010 emissions kit, install the bracket onto the VCV.





2. Connect the red striped vacuum hose from the emissions kit to the red VCV nipple. Connect the blue-striped and white-striped vacuum hoses to the corresponding colored dots on the VCV.





The connection points on the vacuum hose assembly are identified in Fig. 32.

3. Remove the green striped vacuum hose between the Thermo Valve and the EGR Valve (Figure 33). Install the new vacuum hose assembly (Figure 32) from the emissions kit between the Thermo-Valve and the EGR valve.

4. Cut the vacuum hose about 1" from the carburetor secondary throttle control diaphragm and install the new vacuum hose assembly between the cut hoses. Secure the vacuum hose and water hose together with the supplied short cable band.

5. a. Locate the white striped vacuum hose connected to the intake manifold port.

b. Cut the existing vacuum hose about 5" from the intake manifold nipple.





c. Insert the "TEE" connection of the new vacuum hose assembly (white striped hose) from the emissions kit (Figure 32) between the cut ends of the white vacuum hoses.





6. a. Loosen the two existing cable bands that secure the original green striped vacuum hose to the large Air Control Valve hose.

b. Remove and discard the existing vacuum hose that connects the Air Control Valve and the Secondary Air Control Solenoid Valve.





c. Connect to the Air Control Valve and Secondary Air Control Solenoid Valve ports the green striped vacuum hose from the emissions kit that is connected at one end to the top port of the VCV.

7. a. Disconnect the remaining original White Striped vacuum hose from the Secondary Air Control Solenoid Valve port (Figure 37).








b. Connect to this port, the (Red, then White Striped) vacuum hose. This vacuum hose (Red, then White Striped) is connected to the middle port of the Vacuum Control Valve at one end and has an open "TEE" port in the line (Figures 32 and 38).

c. Connect to the open "TEE" port mentioned in step 7-b, the vacuum hose (White Striped) that was removed from the Secondary Air Control Solenoid Valve in Step 7-a (Figures 38 and 32).





8. Install the Vacuum Control Valve and bracket to the air hose.

9. Secure the vacuum hose connected to the Air Control Valve to the large air hose with the original cable bands.





10. Secure the loose vacuum hoses from the vacuum control valve to the power brake booster vacuum hose with the supplied long cable band.

11. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
