A/C Controller - Replacement Procedure & Precaution

85mitsubishi04

SUBJECT: STARION A/C CONTROLLER HARNESS
NO. STB-85-24-007

DATE September, 1985

MODEL 1985 Starion
PURPOSE This bulletin explains the procedure to follow where the controller in the 1985 Starion A/C system is damaged by a surge of high voltage. When it is determined that the controller is damaged and must be replaced, a new harness kit containing a Zener diode and resistor must be installed at the same time to protect the system against future damage from the same type of voltage surge. (The harness containing the Zener circuitry has been incorporated into production effective with the introduction of the 1986 models).

The procedure for installing the harness follows.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Obtain a new controller MB276497 and a new Power Transistor Harness Kit MB 438925. The latter is shown in Fig. 1.

2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

14. Install and connect the new harness MB438925. Refer to Figure 9, Page 4 for installation tips.

15. Disassemble the damaged controller from the control panel. Then assemble the new controller MB276497 to the control panel.

16. Reassemble and connect all parts in reverse order of removal and reconnect the battery.
