DESCRIPTION

If the steering-wheel radio controls do not work, and the horn also does not work, or if both work intermittently or only at some steering wheel angles, the cause is probably a poor contact between the spring-loaded brush in the steering column (Fig. 1) and the contact ring on the steering wheel hub (Fig. 2).
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Remove the horn pad, pull the steering wheel, and then bend the spring slightly upward and away from the steering column surface to increase tension.

2. If the contact surface of the ring on the steering wheel hub appears oxidized, clean it and lubricate with a thin film of petroleumjelly.

3. Reassemble and verify proper operation.
