PURPOSE
This bulletin contains a procedure and template for modifying the Stop Plate of the Bearing Installer (MD998374-01) for the dual engine stabilizer shaft. This modification is needed to allow the tool to be used on the 2.3L diesel or 2.6L gas engines. It has no adverse effect on other functions of the stop plate.
TEMPLATE
The template to be used is printed on a sticky-back sheet attached to this bulletin.

PROCEDURE
Please remove the template from the sheet, take off the protective paper liner, and stick the template to tool MD998374-01. Match the dotted lines on the template with the holes in the tool. See Figure 1. Then center-punch the locations for the two 3/8" holes, remove the template, and drill the holes. Since the template need not be re-used, it may be discarded after use. A second template is supplied with this bulletin in case it is needed.
