BLEEDING AUTO LASH ADJUSTER The service manual procedure for bleeding the auto lash adjuster by submerging it in a container of diesel oil is not needed because the adjusters are self-bleeding when in operation.

A new adjuster may be installed "unprimed", and engine oil pressure will fill it. It should be lubricated with clean engine oil before installation.

After the adjuster is installed in the rocker arm and the engine has been assembled, purge air from the adjusters by gently running-up the engine to about 3000 rpm and allowing it to return slowly to idle over a one-minute period.
