Beginning with 1985 models, Mitsubishi car and truck air conditioning systems will have 3/8" - 24 high pressure service valve fittings. Earlier model fittings were 7/16" - 20. Lowpressure fittings remain unchanged.
To adapt existing gauge manifolds to the new thread size, adapters are available in various styles as shown in Figure 1. (The 90-degree adapter is recommended for 1985 Mitsubishi A/C systems.)
The adapters are available from tool supply dealers locally.
To use the adapter, screw it onto the high pressure (red) hose of the air conditioning manifold gauge set, and then connect it to the high-pressure service valve.
