NOTE: THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES STB-85-21-001 DATED JUNE 1, 1985 WHICH SHOULD BE DISCARDED.

DESCRIPTION If the 5-speed manual transaxle in a Cordia/Tredia or Mirage can be shifted only between Neutral and 5th gear the cause may be a displaced seat in the select shift rail bore.

FIGURE 1:

The seat, which is a coin-shaped part, flips 90 degrees from its intended position, limiting the travel of the shift rail. See Fig. 1.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Remove the transaxle from the vehicle.
2. Remove the select shift rail (3, Fig. 1) and the seat (5, Fig. 1)
3. Install new seat MD718911 and the new shift rail - MD718914 for the 1.5L Mirage and MD718915 for the 1.6L Mirage and all Cordia/Tredia models.
4. Reassemble and reinstall the transaxle.
