Whenever the unitized structure of a Mitsubishi vehicle is welded electrically, the welding current flows through the structure to ground. Unless the positive battery cable is disconnected, electronic equipment on board the vehicle becomes part of the welding electrical circuit and may be damaged even though the ignition switch is turned off. Therefore always disconnect the battery positive cable before doing any electric welding to avoid damaging electronic components in the vehicle's electrical system.
