O-RING ADDED
An O-ring, part no. MD707200, was added to the center support of the low/reverse brake on Cordia/Tredia transaxles at the beginning of the 1984 production run. The purpose of the O-ring is to insure more consistent pressure readings when a gauge is attached to the Low-Reverse Brake Pressure Port (see Fig. 1). Center support drums which require the O-ring have a circular recess In a spot-faced area The O-ring should be replaced whenever the center support is reassembled into the case.
ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE REVICED
The assembly procedure has been revised to include the O-ring and also to simplity the assembly of the planet carrier, sun gears, and center support.
Please attach orange labels to pages 21-83 and 21-84 of the 1984 Cordia/Tredia Service Manual as reference to this bulletin.
The revised procedure is given on page 2 of this bulletin.
PAGES 21-83 AND 21-84 COMPONENT SERVICE-AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
Delete steps 18, 19, 20, and 21. Replace them with the following:
18. On the bench, assemble the planet carrier, internal gear, thrust bearing #9, and the forward and reverse sun gear, and insert the assembly into the centers support drum.
19. Install O-ring, part no. MD707200 in the circular recess in the drum. Lubricate it with ATF.
20. Attach Special Tool MD998340 to the center support.
21. With the transaxle resting on the bench insert the entire centers support assembly into the case, holding the handle of the Special Tool.
