On carburetor-equipped models, if it is not possible to attain the specified idle-up speeds using the procedures in the Service Manuals (Cordia/Tredia p. 14-12, Montero p. 14-7, Truck p. 14-25), then follow the procedure below.

PROCEDURE

1. With the engine at normal operating temperature, all lights and accessories OFF, transmission in Neutral or Park, and engine cooling fan stopped, check curb idle speed and adjust if necessary. NOTE:
Curb idle speed specifications are shown in the table on page 2 of this bulletin.

2. Turn the A/C idle-up adjusting screw (SAS5) clockwise until it bottoms. Then back it out one full turn.

3. Lift the lever until it touches SAS3. Read and record engine RPM.

4. Turn on the A/C compressor and adjust idle-up RPM to specifications by turning SAS2.
5. Turn off the A/C compressor and allow the engine to return to curb idle.
6. Momentarily increase engine speed to 2000 RPM.

7. With engine at curb idle, turn the A/C ON and OFF several times to insure idle-up speed is attained. If necessary, turn idleup speed adjusting screw to obtain the specified speed.

8. Lift the free lever until it touches SAS3 and adjust engine RPM using SAS3 to the value recorded in Step 3.
