Reassembly

1. Install the main drive gear and mainshaft into the case. Allow them to rest on the bottom of the bearing bores.

2. Install the counter gear into the case, then insert the taper bearing outer races into the bearing bore of the case.

3. Install the main drive gear bearing onto the main drive gear using special tool (MD998029) and install the snap rings on the maindrive gear and bearing. (119026)



4. Install the mainshaft center bearing with special tool (MD998067) (134003)

NOTE:

When the center bearing is being installed, force is applied to the 3-4 speed synchronizer. After the installation of the center bearing, make sure that the synchronizer ring is not locked to the 4th speed gear.



5. Install the oil seal into the front bearing retainer. When installing the oil seal, apply grease to the oil seal lip and drive in the oil seal, using special tool, oil seal installer (MD 998200). (134032)
