16. Install the shift rails and forks. Be sure to install the interlock plungers at the same time.

17. Insert the ball and poppet spring into each shift rail. Tighten the plug to specified position. Install the poppet spring with the small end towards the ball side. After installation, seal the plug heads with sealer. (134041)



18. When installing the extension housing, tilt the change shifter fully down to the left and fit the control finger into the groove provided in the selector. Install the snap ring (front) for the mainshaft rear bearing. Using special tool (MD 998067), install the mainshaft rear bearing. Lastly, install the rear snap ring for the mainshaft rear bearing. (119002)

19. Apply sealant to the extension housing mating surfaces.

20. Apply sealant to the threaded portions of the extension housing mounting bolts, whose threaded holes penetrate into the case.

21. Install bolts and torque to 15 to 21 N-m (10 to 15 ft. lbs.)



22. Note the number of speedometer driven gear teeth.

23. The number embossed on the flange surface of the speedometer sleeve indicates the number of speedometer driven gear teeth.

24. Align mark before embossed number of teeth with mark on extension housing.

25. Figure (134045) shows the installation of the speedometer driven gear and sleeve when the number of driven gear teeth is 20-22.
