9. Install the reverse idler gear shaft, When installing the shaft, install bolts as guides. (143037)

10. Install the needle bearing, reverse idler gear and thrust washer. Lock them with a nut. Then install a cotter pin to lock the nut in place. Install the thrust washer with its rounded edge toward the front of the case.



11. Check the reverse idler gear end play.

12. When the overdrive-reverse synchronizer is reassembled, pay attention to respective installation directions. (119031)

13. The synchronizer spring installation method is the same as for the 3-4 speed and 1-2 speed.



14. Install spacer, stopper plate, overdrive synchronizer assembly, overdrive gear bearing sleeve, needle bearing, synchronizer ring, and overdrive gear in order of mention on to mainshaft from rear end. Tighten the locking nut, then stake it to the mainshaft. When the needle bearing sleeve is hard to install, assemble the spacer (Key No. 49 in Illustration 132021) to the sleeve and drive it in with special tool (MD998067). After driving the sleeve into place, remove the spacer, install the steel ball and reinstall the spacer.

15. Check the overdrive gear end play.
