Automatic transmission equipped Cordia and Tredia models without power steering, produced prior to November 1982, will require a fast idle control device (F.I.C.D.) kit to complete the air conditioner installation. This kit is ordered separately by the dealership Parts Department as explained in Parts Bulletin MSPP004T83.
The kit (P/N MB276926) contains a vacuum diaphragm, two mounting screws and installation instructions. After completing Engine Compartment Step 30 of the Air Conditioner Installation Manual, install the F.I.C.D. vacuum diaphragm using the following instructions.
1. Remove and discard the screw, spring and Free Lever Support from the carburetor linkage.
2. Insert the end of the vacuum diaphragm link into the hole in the Free Lever.
3. Install the vacuum diaphragm on the carburetor using the two screws provided in the kit.
Continue the air conditioner installation with Step 32 of the Engine Compartment Section.
NOTE:
Step 31 does not apply to this model.
