Service Technical Bulletin STB-83-21-001 has been updated as follows:
A. FIRST PAGE:
The V.I.N. Chart has been updated, as shown.
B. THIRD PAGE
The special tool information is updated to include a special retainer MD998315 which may be used to hold the clutch pack in place it it is not desired to remove the clutch pack. This tool is available from Owatonna Tool Co. at $12.88.
Remove the following label and place it in the top center of the first page of Service Technical Bulletin STB-83-21-001.
The Quick Specs/Modification Card is updated as follows:
The back side of the card, first column, step number 15 and 16 have been updated as follows:
15. To eliminate the possibility of transfer gear-to-converter housing interference, check the transfer shaft end play as follows: Install a 1.84 mm spacer (MD706580) behind the bearing race in the converter housing before checking end play.
16. Then check end play in the normal way, but calculate the required spacer thickness as shown.
The 1.84 mm spacer must be removed and the new calculated spacer installed.
Remove the following label and place it on the back side of the procedure card below step 20, and also strike out step 15 and 16 on the card.
