Owner Letter Information
Dear Mitsubishi Owner:The California Air Resources Board ("CARB") has determined that some 1983 Mitsubishi Cordia/Tredia models, originally sold and still being operated in California, may have had driveability problems which lead to maladjustments and/or tampering of the engine, causing increased emissions. Therefore, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. ("MMSA"), in cooperation with the CARB, has initiated a voluntary service campaign to inspect your vehicle and perform the following services:
* Carburetor adjustment and recalibration
* Ignition timing change and idle speed set
* Spark plug cleaning or replacement, if necessary
* Air cleaner element cleaning
* Accelerator cable adjustment
* Exhaust manifold inspection for cracks and replacement with a new design, if it has not been previously replaced
This service will not deteriorate and may improve the performance and fuel economy of your vehicle. Without this service, there is potential for Smog Check failure.
Please contact your dealer as soon as possible and make an appointment for this service. An appointment will ensure that parts are available. All service is free-of-charge and will take about three (3) hours to complete.
We regret any inconvenience this action may cause, but trust you understand our interest in clean air and in your continued satisfaction with our products. If you should have any questions concerning this notification, please contact your Mitsubishi Motors Dealer.
