Air Register: Description and Operation

There are two instrument panel configurations used:
- Vehicles equipped with six passenger seating have five A/C registers in the instrument panel.
- Vehicles equipped with five passenger seating have four A/C registers in the instrument panel and two A/C registers in the console panel for rear seat passengers.

The instrument panel A/C register features a thumbwheel that controls an air shut-off door and a barrel assembly that controls air direction. The barrel assembly consists of:
- a set of horizontal louvers in front that pivot to direct air up and down.
- a set of vertical louvers behind the front louvers.
- a control knob that slides side-to-side to direct right and left.

The console panel A/C register features a barrel assembly that controls air direction. The barrel assembly consists of:
- a set of vertical louvers in front.
- a set of horizontal louvers behind the front louvers.
- a control knob that slides side-to-side to stop or direct airflow from right to left.

The driver side A/C register assemblies are retained by screws and must be removed from the rear of the cluster finish panel.

The passenger side A/C register assemblies are retained by screws and must be removed from the rear of the instrument panel, although the barrels can be replaced without removing the A/C register assemblies.

The rear passenger A/C register assemblies are part of the console panel, although the barrels can be replaced without removing the console panel.
