Pitman Arm: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Remove the nuts.
1 Remove the nut.
2 Remove the nut and the lockwasher.





3. Using the special tool, disconnect the steering gear sector shaft arm from the steering sector shaft arm drag link.





4. Scribe an alignment mark on both the steering gear sector shaft arm and the shaft.





5. Using the special tool, remove the steering gear sector shaft arm.

Installation





1. Install the steering gear sector shaft arm.
1 Align the mark on the steering gear sector shaft arm with the alignment mark on the shaft.
2 Install the steering gear sector shaft arm.
3 Install a new lockwasher and nut. Do not tighten the nut.





2. Install the steering gear sector shaft arm onto the steering sector shaft arm drag link. Install the nut and a new lock nut.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Check the wheel alignment. Adjust as necessary.
